  1. What is the study about?
  2. This study explores the perceptions of professional pianists, students and piano teachers regarding the validity of concept of National Piano Schools (e.g. Australian, German, French, Russian etc.)


  3. Who is carrying out the study?
  4. The study is being conducted by Wojciech Wisniewski and will form the basis for the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts at The University of Sydney under the supervision of Dr James Renwick – Lecturer in Music Education


  5. What does the study involve?
  6. You are asked to fill in an internet questionnaire. You can skip any question you find irrelevant or you do not like or answer just a part of it. Questions with an asterix (*) are compulsory as they indicate which set of questions should be asked next. If you decide to skip any of those questions, simply highlight an option 'Skip question'. This will automatically take you to the next set of questions.


  7. How much time will the study take?
  8. It should take from 15 to 20 minutes to complete this questionnaire.


  9. Can I withdraw from the study?
  10. Being in this study is completely voluntary - you are not under any obligation to consent and - if you do consent - you can withdraw at any time without affecting your relationship with the University of Sydney and the researcher. You may stop the qeustionnaire at any time. The information you have already provided will not be included in the study.


  11. Will anyone else know the results?
  12. All aspects of the study, including results, will be strictly confidential and only the researchers will have access to information on participants. A report of the study may be submitted for publication, but individual participants will not be identifiable in such a report.


  13. Will the study benefit me?
  14. Yes. At the end of the research you will be sent a report of the study that might contribute to your further understanding of the topic.


  15. Can I tell other people about the study?
  16. Yes, you can talk freely about the study.
